Honest to God quote in the Tyler Morning Telegraph
"All of our lives since the fourth grade we've been told 'Your senior year when y'all get on varsity, that's y'alls year.'"

Hey how old were you when you lived there? I remember Smith County was *completely dry* when I lived in the adjacent county of Upshur, which had like four liquor stores at one intersection alone, to accomodate all out-of-county traffic. (Just moseying down memory lane a bit...)
I lived there from the age of 7 to 17 and I can assure that Smith County is still entirely dry. Most counties in Texas are "Partially Wet" - http://www.texassafetynetwork.org/issues/wet_dry/map_list/list.php
Shoot, when I firt got to Big Sandy in Spring 1990, you could get a giant Slurpee-sized margarita at a drive-through window. That just boggled my mind.

Heh. What is funny is how very normal this quote seems to me.
Why did you not include Bennie Bickers Jr. on your blog?
