first post

Ugh. Usually after I rant about something (aloud, at a party, towards unconcerned people), I threaten: I should get a blog. Well, here I am you bastards. Take that. I will try not to rant.

Future topics: why my fantasy baseball team is currently sucking, everything I have ever thought about Infinite Jest, questioning why reading your own blog posts is like listening to a recording of your own voice: revolting. Is that even me?

Also: is Kottke.org even a blog? Is it more of a link portal? I love it, and it occasionally has stuff about his personal/professional life, but ultimately how interesting is that?

My fantasy baseball team is also sucking. That is, it was already sucking, but Benitez was our closer. Rock! (And, of course, welcome welcome.)

Thanks guys. I was hoping to build up some content before anyone could take a look around, but you beat me to the punch. I'm still not sure what I will post here, but my fantasy baseball team just slipped another notch in the league standings (partly because it's stocked with Yankees).

Your blog title reminded me of this:

Nice to get a little surreptitious IJ fix at work. . .

Yeah, I like how the whole book is an "annular system" - circular (or is it "infinite"..ahhh...so many levels...).

Not too high-brow, though: annular comes from the same root word as anus.

Robert Loggia character, fresh out of prison, to Tony Soprano (ball-bustingly): "You got a ring I can kiss or somethin'?"

Tony (jocularly): "How 'bout the one in the center of my ass?"
